Found this spot in Chinatown while hanging around and i love it. We came late when it was almost closed but still got the best serve ever! The roasted duck was delicious. The owner even showed us how to eat the signature disk the right way. Highly recommend.

This is your neighborhood soul food spot for every mood and moment. Feeling happy, sad, drained from a long day, or just homesick? Craving that familiar chaos of an impatient Asian uncle/ grandma asking if you’re ready to order yet? The kind of yelling that oddly feels like love? Yeah, they’ve got all that. Whether you’re in need of congee, noodle soup, stir-fry over rice, fried rice, or even lobster they’ve got you covered. Think of it as your favorite diner, but with real-deal Cantonese comfort food. The food here is always fresh, cooked with that homemade touch. Sure, the service might not win awards. but let’s be real, for the price and the flavor, there’s nothing to complain about. The atmosphere isn’t some fancy five star setup, but it doesn’t need to be. It feels like home. There’s a comfort in walking through those doors, especially if you grew up around here. That familiar smell hits you the same one you remember from after school meals as a kid. It’s nostalgic, warm, and real. In my opinion? A+ all the way.

You can't go wrong with big Wong! Genuine Chinese food right in the heart of china Town. Hard to beat that! Loved the chicken fried rice but there were so many options to try you would have to come back every day for a year to do so. They are CASH ONLY so in today's world you just have to plan to take out some money for your visit. We also tried the vegetable spring rolls, the garlic beef and the green beans. Friendly staff as well.

Big Wong is one of those classic old school Chinatown spots that’s been around forever. The ginger scallion fried fish and the lobster were both excellent super flavorful and cooked just right. The vibe is nofrills, exactly what you’d expect from a traditional Chinatown restaurant. Just a heads-up, it’s cash only, so come prepared.

One of the oldest spots in Chinatown. Place feels like the 90s - and i love it. Authentic cantonese experience (don’t expect friendly service lol). The food tastes delicious. The roasted duck is their signature. Also the flat beef noodle was amazing. highly recommend CASH ONLY!

We went with a friend to China town to have lunch and do some food shopping. We took the subway down and back which is speedy. Getting off on canal and then a short walk to Big Wong. Our Chinese friend orders for us so we get the best deal. Two types of roast pork. Really delicious. Cash only. Highly recommended.

If you’re looking for classic, no-nonsense Chinese food in NYC, Big Wong is the place to go. This spot has become one of my favorite go-to restaurants whenever I’m craving comfort food that hits the spot every single time. The roast meats here are absolutely legendary. The roast pork is tender with just the right amount of crispy edges and a sweet-savory glaze that’s incredibly addictive. The roast duck is also fantastic—perfectly seasoned with crispy skin and juicy meat. I always order a combination over rice, and they’re very generous with the portions. You’ll leave full and satisfied. Another must-try dish is the wonton noodle soup. The broth is light but flavorful, and the wontons are plump and packed with shrimp. It’s a simple dish but done so well. If you’re feeling extra hungry, adding roast duck on top is the way to go. The service is fast and efficient—don’t expect small talk or fancy plating. This is the kind of place where you sit down, order, and the food comes out hot within minutes. That’s part of its charm. It feels authentic and nostalgic, like stepping into a busy Cantonese eatery in Hong Kong. The prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality and portion size. It’s honestly hard to find this level of value in Manhattan these days. In short, Big Wong is a Chinatown staple for a reason. Delicious food, generous portions, quick service, and that comforting, old-school vibe that keeps you coming back. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this is a must-visit spot if you love Chinese food.
